I tried IE7. I really did. When you hit ctrl-t to make a new tab you have to tab twice to get to the search bar. I don’t know why it would stop on the refresh icon, but it does. Fine, I can live with that. But when you can’t middle-click ‘back’ or ‘forward’ arrows to make a new tab that’s the final straw. Maybe it’s specific, but I’ve become to used to doing a search for a coding problem, finding a good page but wanting to go back to the search. So I middle-click the back button to open my search results in a new tab. I could also middle-click the links I want to see but I don’t always do that. Bad habit from Firefox? In any case, IE7 doesn’t let you middle-click anything other than what’s on the page, whereas in Firefox everything related to pages is middle-clickable. Sorry, I’ve fallen in love with that.
So yeah. Also Live Search sucks. It is like a black hole on the internet, sucking all light into it. Google may be getting insidious but at least their search results make sense. I’m not interested in a dozen top hits about where I can buy some code library or other, I want an answer to my code problem!
I know that you can change the search bar to Google, but I lazily left it as Live. Doesn’t matter, Portable Firefox here I come!
